Senate Bill 451 Summary

• Creates a ten-member Task Force on Neck Manipulation to continue through December 31, 2013, subject to Oklahoma's Sunset Law

• Task force membership includes: Board of Chiropractic Examiners president, two chiropractic representatives, two senators, two representatives, and representatives from the Oklahoma State Medical Association, Osteopathic Association, and Physical Therapy Association

• Task force will examine risks, benefits, and alternatives to manual and manipulative treatment of the cervical spine, and determine whether patients must be informed of possible side effects from cervical spine treatments

• Senate is designated to provide staff assistance to the task force

• Effective July 1, 2013, with emergency clause allowing immediate implementation upon passage and approval
