SB 534 Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. 2011, Section 6-194 to require school district boards of education to establish professional development programs for certified and licensed teachers and administrators.

• Requires school counselors to receive at least one-third of annual professional development hours through programs designed specifically for school counselors.

• Adds new requirement that related services personnel employed by districts be provided opportunities to participate in training applicable to their field to maintain professional licensure.

• Effective July 1, 2013, with an emergency clause declared for immediate effect upon passage and approval.
