SB 548 Summary

• Creates the "2nd Amendment Preservation Act" declaring that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms free from infringement.

• Declares federal acts, laws, orders, rules, regulations, bans, or registration requirements regarding firearms to be invalid in Oklahoma and null and void.

• Makes it the duty of the Oklahoma Legislature to adopt measures preventing enforcement of federal firearm regulations within the state.

• Imposes felony penalties (up to 5 years imprisonment and/or $5,000 fine) on federal officials or contractors who attempt to enforce federal firearm regulations in Oklahoma.

• Imposes misdemeanor penalties (up to 2 years imprisonment and/or $1,000 fine) on Oklahoma state and local officials who attempt to enforce federal firearm regulations in the state.
