ENGR. S. B. NO. 631 Summary

• Creates a task force until July 1, 2014 to study technology integration practices in other states and develop recommendations for new technology literacy standards for Oklahoma schools.

• Task force comprises 9 members appointed by the Governor: high school teachers (English, math, social studies, science), two elementary teachers, one school district administrator, one physical education teacher, and one music teacher.

• Task force chair selected by the Governor; requires a quorum of 5 members to approve final actions; may meet as frequently as needed and is subject to the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act.

• Members receive no compensation or travel reimbursement; staff support provided by the State Department of Education.

• Task force must submit a report by July 1, 2014 to the Governor, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and Speaker of the House with findings and recommendations; bill becomes effective July 1, 2013 as an emergency measure.
