SB 668 Summary

• Modifies the signature requirement for political party formation petitions by changing the standard from "either for Governor or for electors for President and Vice President" to just "for Governor"

• Grants the Secretary of the State Election Board authority to resolve disputes about who has the legal authority to act on behalf of a recognized political party, based on state statutes, filed documents, party bylaws, and consultation with the party's national leadership when possible

• Maintains existing restrictions prohibiting formation of political parties and circulation of petitions between March 1 and November 15 of even-numbered years

• Effective date: November 1, 2013
