Beekeepers producing less than 500 gallons of honey annually are exempt from State Department of Health inspection and regulation for manufacturing, selling, and distributing honey and honeycomb products in Oklahoma

Exempt sales must be direct to end-use customers only at locations such as the beekeeper's home, farmers' markets, roadside stands, or county fairs, and only by the beekeeper or immediate family members

Honey must be raw, unblended, unadulterated, and produced from hives located entirely within Oklahoma that are owned and managed by the beekeeper

Labels must include the product name, net weight, beekeeper's name, 10-digit phone number, production address, and a statement in 10-point type or larger: "Bottled or packaged in a facility not inspected by the Oklahoma Department of Health"

County, municipal, or other local governments are prohibited from adopting ordinances that restrict honey sales or distribution in compliance with this act, effective July 1, 2013
