Senate Bill 854 Summary

• Requires all new collective bargaining agreements under Oklahoma's public employee bargaining law (Title 11, Section 51-101 et seq.) entered on or after the effective date to include a provision prohibiting application to police officers terminated for using excessive force.

• Allows police officers terminated for excessive force to petition district court for relief and potential reinstatement if the court determines the termination was arbitrary, capricious, or otherwise prohibited by law.

• Codifies new provisions as Section 51-101.1 of Title 11 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

• Effective November 1, 2013.
