Senate Bill 934 Summary

• Allows parents, legal guardians, or authorized adults to give firearms to children for hunting, hunter safety classes, firearms education and training, target shooting, skeet, trap, and sporting competitions.

• Expands permissible firearms from rifles and shotguns only to "any firearm" for the purposes listed above, providing broader options for youth firearms activities.

• Requires parents and guardians to avoid giving firearms to children if aware of substantial risk of criminal misuse or if the child has prior delinquency/criminal convictions involving physical force.

• Establishes civil liability for adults who violate these provisions, making them liable for damages resulting from any injuries, deaths, or property damage caused by discharge of the firearm or use of weapons given to minors.

• Effective November 1, 2013.
