SB960 Summary

• Recreates the Eastern Flyer Passenger Rail Development Task Force to study and develop a comprehensive plan for expanding conventional and high-speed passenger rail service from Tulsa to Oklahoma City through public-private partnerships.

• Establishes a 17-member task force composed of state officials (Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Transportation Director, Commerce Director, etc.) and legislative appointees representing the Tulsa and Oklahoma City metropolitan areas and the region between them.

• Requires the Department of Transportation to compile relevant data and reports by October 1, 2013, and directs the task force to submit final findings and recommendations by December 31, 2014.

• Task force authority expires January 1, 2015, and the task force is dissolved by operation of law on February 1, 2015.

• Effective July 1, 2013, with emergency declaration for immediate implementation.
