Oklahoma Senate Bill 966 Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. 2011, Section 6-105.3 regarding issuance of identification cards by the Department of Public Safety to Oklahoma residents for identification purposes only.

• Changes application requirements for persons under 18 years old by allowing either in-person verification before a notary public or submission of a notarized affidavit signed by a custodial legal parent or guardian, instead of requiring only in-person verification.

• Maintains existing identification card fees of $10.00 ($7.00 to general fund, $3.00 to Department Computer Imaging System Revolving Fund) with no fee charged to persons 65 years or older.

• Establishes separate validity period of one year for identification cards issued to registered sex offenders, renewable annually while person remains on Sex Offender Registry.

• Became effective November 1, 2013.
