SB 988 Summary

• Amends 10A O.S. 2011, Section 1-8-101 to modify education and training requirements for attorneys with juvenile docket responsibility

• Requires district attorneys, assistant district attorneys, public defenders, assistant public defenders, court-appointed attorneys, and attorneys employed by district courts with juvenile docket duties to complete at least 6 hours of annual training in juvenile law, child abuse and neglect, foster care, domestic violence, and behavioral health treatment

• Each judicial district must develop and administer training procedures and rules for these attorneys, with the chief judge or designee completing implementation within one year of the effective date

• Removes language requiring "or retained" attorneys to participate in training requirements

• Effective November 1, 2013
