ENGROSSED SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 13 - Summary

• Designates Route 66 as Oklahoma's Official Bicycle Route, as part of a nationwide effort to establish this designation in each state the historic route passes through.

• Oklahoma has over 430 driveable miles of Route 66, the most of any state in the nation, with more than 32 municipalities along the route providing support for the designation.

• Directs the Department of Transportation to submit an application to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials to add Route 66 to the U.S. Bicycle Route System.

• Authorizes the Department of Transportation or any local municipality to erect permanent markers designating the route.

• Requires the Secretary of State to distribute copies of the resolution to the Department of Transportation.
