Senate Resolution 8 Summary

• Celebrates the 33rd anniversary of the Sister-State relationship between Oklahoma and Taiwan, established on July 25, 1980.

• Welcomes Honorable Director General Steve Hsia of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston to the Oklahoma State Senate.

• Recognizes Taiwan as the 10th largest U.S. trading partner with $63 billion in bilateral trade in 2012, and supports negotiations for a Bilateral Investment Agreement and potential Free Trade Agreement.

• Acknowledges Taiwan's participation in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (effective November 1, 2012) and its exemplary progress in economy, environment, and aviation.

• Directs distribution of the resolution to Director General Steve Hsia.
