HB 1526 Summary

• Amends 3 O.S. 2011, Section 85.3 and enacts the "Aerospace and Defense Development Act of 2013" to rename the Center for Aerospace Supplier Quality (CASQ) to the Center for Aerospace and Defense Supplier Quality (CADSQ)

• Expands CADSQ and the Oklahoma Aerospace Institute (OAI) mission to serve aviation, aerospace, and defense industries in education, training, research, and economic development, not just aerospace alone

• Designates CADSQ as intermediary between Oklahoma's military installations and aviation/aerospace/defense industries to increase Department of Defense contracts, create high-wage jobs, and reduce flow of federal defense dollars to out-of-state businesses

• Requires OAI to act as clearinghouse for information on aviation/aerospace/defense industries, coordinate state agency activities, create education partnerships, conduct applied research, and provide consulting services to these industries

• Becomes effective July 1, 2013 with emergency declaration for immediate implementation
