HB 1890 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma law (21 O.S. 2011, Section 1125) regarding sex offender zone of safety restrictions around schools, child care facilities, playgrounds, and parks

• Expands the definition of "parks" to include any property operated or supported by city, town, county, or state government authorities, clarifying the scope of prohibited locations

• Raises the age limitation for victim protection from under 13 years to under 18 years of age for offenders convicted of crimes against children in other jurisdictions

• Maintains existing prohibitions on loitering within 500 feet of protected areas and existing penalties (up to 1 year county jail for first offense; 3+ years state imprisonment for subsequent offenses)

• Becomes effective November 1, 2013
