HB 1929 Summary

• Modifies eligibility criteria for Gold Star Parents License Plates to include members of the United States Armed Forces who "died while on active duty" rather than limiting it to those "killed during a war"

• Expands Gold Star Survivor License Plates to include three categories of qualified veterans: those who died as a direct result of military duties, those who died from injury or illness caused by military service, and those who died while on active duty

• Removes the requirement that Gold Star Parents provide proof of eligibility on an annual basis, requiring it only upon initial application

• Effective date set for November 1, 2013
