HB 1985 Summary

• Creates the Oklahoma Port Task Force to study and develop a comprehensive plan addressing the impact of the expanded Panama Canal on Oklahoma ports, roads, and bridges.

• Task force composed of 9 members including the Governor or designee, two House members appointed by the Speaker, two Senate members appointed by the President Pro Tempore, directors of the Department of Transportation and Department of Commerce, and two executive directors of active public ports appointed by the Governor.

• Task force must hold organizational meeting within 90 days after sine die adjournment of the 1st Regular Session of the 54th Oklahoma Legislature; a majority of members present constitutes a quorum.

• Task force members shall receive travel reimbursement per Title 74, Section 456 of Oklahoma Statutes; Department of Transportation provides staff support and other state agencies must provide assistance as needed.

• Task force must submit final report to Governor and legislative leaders by December 31, 2014; task force loses authority January 1, 2015 and is dissolved by operation of law February 1, 2015.
