ENGR. H. B. NO. 2134 Summary

• Amends 26 O.S. 2011, Section 1-108 regarding formation of recognized political parties in Oklahoma

• Reduces the signature requirement for new political party recognition from 5% to 2.5% of total votes cast in the last General Election (for either Governor or Presidential electors)

• Maintains existing procedures including notice filing, petition circulation period (maximum one year after notice), and restriction on circulation between March 1 and November 15 of even-numbered years

• Requires State Election Board determination of petition sufficiency within 30 days; party becomes recognized upon verification of sufficient valid signatures

• Effective date: November 1, 2014
