HB2200 Summary

• Permits the State of Oklahoma and its agencies to contract with collection agencies for debt collection services.

• Allows collection of unpaid fees, penalties, interest, and other sums owed to the state, as well as court penalties, costs, fines, and fees from defendants who fail to appear or satisfy court-ordered monetary obligations.

• Authorizes addition of a collection fee not exceeding 35% on items referred to collection agencies, with defendants required to reimburse the fee through court order.

• Defines "agencies" as boards, commissions, committees, departments, and other state instrumentalities or entities.

• Effective date: November 1, 2013.
