Health benefit plans providing cancer treatment coverage must cover orally administered anticancer medications on terms no less favorable than intravenously administered or injected cancer medications

Oral anticancer medications cannot be subject to prior authorization, dollar limits, copayments, deductibles, or other out-of-pocket expenses that do not apply to IV or injected cancer medications

Health plans cannot reclassify or increase cost-sharing for anticancer medications solely to comply with this requirement; any cost-sharing increases must apply to the majority of comparable medical or pharmaceutical benefits

Plans limiting out-of-pocket costs to no more than $100 per filled prescription for oral anticancer medications are considered compliant with these requirements
