HB 2300 Summary

• Creates a temporary "Common Core Task Force" to study issues related to adopting and implementing K-12 Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics, terminating December 31, 2013

• Task Force consists of 16 members including legislators from House and Senate education/appropriations committees, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, representatives from teacher associations, school superintendents, and parent organizations

• Task Force duties include investigating costs associated with adopting and implementing Common Core standards, as well as costs for revising state testing programs and other related issues

• Members to be appointed by August 1, 2013, with organizational meeting required by August 31, 2013; study must be completed by December 31, 2013

• Task Force exempted from Oklahoma Open Meeting Act and Open Records Act; members receive travel reimbursement; staff support provided by State Department of Education; declared an emergency measure
