Schools may educate students about the history of traditional winter celebrations and allow staff and students to offer traditional greetings including "Merry Christmas," "Happy Hanukkah," and "Happy holidays."

Schools may display scenes or symbols associated with traditional winter celebrations (menorah, nativity scene, Christmas tree) on school property if the display includes symbols from more than one religion or from one religion plus at least one secular symbol.

Displays relating to traditional winter celebrations cannot include messages that endorse, favor, disfavor, or encourage adherence to any particular religious or nonreligious faith, belief, or perspective.

The bill becomes effective September 1, 2014.
