HB 2331 Summary

• Amends 10A O.S. 2011, Section 2-5-301 to require identification of detained or arrested juveniles within 72 hours for educational needs assessment and provision of educational opportunities while in custody

• Mandates that school districts be notified within 24 hours when a student enrolled in public school is detained, arrested, or held in custody for any offense under the Juvenile Code or Criminal Code

• Requires school districts to be notified of a student's release from detention or custody within 24 hours

• Applies to juveniles under 18 years old who are Oklahoma residents, including those subject to adult prosecution, youthful offender proceedings, or certification as adults

• Effective date: November 1, 2014
