HB 2500 Summary

• Changes fiscal years for which schools receive exemptions from media program standards and financial penalties from 2013-2014 to 2015-2016

• Exempts school districts from forming advisory councils and textbook adoption requirements during fiscal years ending June 30, 2015 and June 30, 2016

• Allows school districts to expend textbook allocation funds for any district support purpose during the exemption period instead of requiring purchase of textbooks

• Directs Legislature to exclude growth in the Education Reform Revolving Fund from appropriation calculations for public school funding

• Mandates Legislature increase General Revenue Fund appropriations for public schools by 5% annually until accreditation standards are fully restored
