HB 2549 Summary

• Extends the termination date of the Rethinking Special Education, Competency and Transition Task Force from May 31, 2014 to May 31, 2015

• Extends the final report filing deadline from January 1, 2014 to January 1, 2015, with the report to be submitted to the Governor, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and Speaker of the House

• The Task Force continues to study special education service delivery, governance structures, resource allocation, teacher preparation, transition planning, and other related issues affecting students with IEPs

• Maintains the existing 24-member composition of the Task Force including superintendents, special education directors, parents, educators, self-advocates, and higher education representatives

• Declares an emergency effective upon passage and approval
