• Creates new statute (12 O.S. 2611.12) establishing legislative intent to protect child witnesses from emotional discomfort during criminal proceedings.

• Permits child witnesses (under 13 years old) to be accompanied by a support person (parent, relative, or next friend) while testifying, with restrictions on discussing testimony or influencing the witness.

• Allows child witnesses to have a certified therapeutic dog with handler instead of a support person, subject to court hearing verification of dog credentials, insurance, and established relationship with the child.

• Amends 12 O.S. 2611.2 to permit incapacitated witnesses to be accompanied by certified therapeutic dog in lieu of support person during testimony.
