HB2597 Summary

• Amends the prostitution statute (21 O.S. 2011, Section 1029) to raise the age threshold for defining child prostitution from under 16 years old to under 18 years old

• Modifies the definition of "child prostitution" in Section 1030 to include any prostitution offense involving a person under 18 years of age (previously under 16)

• Establishes a legal presumption that persons aged 16-17 charged with prostitution-related offenses were coerced by another person in violation of human trafficking provisions

• Applies to violations including solicitation, inducement, entering a structure or vehicle with intent to commit prostitution, or aiding/abetting such acts

• Effective date: November 1, 2014
