HB 2614 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. Sections 1277 and 1280.1 relating to carrying and possession of firearms in prohibited locations.

• Allows handgun license holders to store a handgun in a locked, hidden motor vehicle on public or private school property parking areas; the vehicle must not remain unattended on school grounds.

• Adds new definition for "motor vehicle" to mean any automobile, truck, minivan, or sports utility vehicle.

• Removes administrative fines previously imposed through the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for certain firearm violations; reduces penalties from felony to misdemeanor for possession of firearms on school property, with fines not exceeding $250.

• Effective November 1, 2014.
