HB 2637 Summary

• Amends 11 O.S. 2011, Section 22-115.1 to replace the term "dog kennel" with "commercial pet breeder" throughout the statute

• Prohibits commercial pet breeders from locating within 2,500 feet of public or private schools or licensed day care facilities in municipalities with populations exceeding 300,000

• Grandfathers commercial pet breeders that were lawfully operating and in full compliance with applicable requirements prior to the effective date

• Prevents the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry from issuing licenses, permits, approvals, or consents for noncompliant commercial pet breeders

• Defines "commercial pet breeder" by reference to paragraph 7 of Section 30.2 of Title 4 of the Oklahoma Statutes; becomes effective November 1, 2014
