HB 2667 Summary

• Amends 10A O.S. 2011, Section 1-4-902 regarding termination of parental rights by district attorneys for children adjudicated as deprived.

• Requires termination petition within 90 days after court orders an individualized service plan if the parent has made no measurable progress in correcting conditions that caused the child's deprivation.

• Replaces vague felony conviction language with specific enumerated crimes (murder, voluntary manslaughter, rape, lewd molestation, child abuse/neglect, enabling abuse/neglect, death of child or sibling from abuse/neglect, and felony assault causing serious bodily injury).

• Maintains existing exceptions allowing district attorney to decline filing if child is cared for by relative, compelling reasons exist against termination, or state failed to provide necessary services.

• Effective date: November 1, 2014.
