HB 2679 Summary

• Amends 10 O.S. 2011, Section 404.1 to add an exception to background check requirements for certain school employees in child care facilities.

• School employees who have already completed a national criminal history record check through the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation under Title 70, Section 5-142 are exempt from the paragraph 3 background check requirements.

• The exemption applies only to school employees working in before- and after-school programs operated in public school districts.

• The Department may still request additional fingerprint checks or criminal history searches if warranted based on investigation of criminal, abusive, or harmful behavior.

• Effective date: November 1, 2014.
