HB 2706 Summary

• Prohibits the sale of compressed gas dusters (also known as compressed air or canned air) to persons under 18 years of age.

• Defines "compressed gas duster" as a product used to clean electronic equipment or other devices containing compressed gases such as difluoroethane, trifluoroethane, or tetrafluoroethane that vaporize before leaving the container.

• Establishes criminal penalties for violators: misdemeanor offense punishable by up to one year in county jail, a fine of not less than $1,000, or both.

• Creates a new section codified as Section 1220.2 of Title 21 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

• Effective date: November 1, 2014.
