HB2775 Bill Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. 2011, Section 1210.523 regarding state academic content standards required for high school graduation with a standard diploma

• Directs the State Board of Education to adopt a unified appeal process for students with individualized education programs (IEP) under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) who are denied a standard diploma

• Students with IEPs have 30 days after denial to file an appeal petition with their school district's board of education, which must take action within 45 days

• Makes all decisions by the board of education regarding IEP students' eligibility to graduate final and nonappealable, removing appeals to the State Board of Education

• Effective July 1, 2014, with an emergency clause for immediate effect
