HB 2941 Summary

• Amends 36 O.S. 2011, Section 4809 relating to reduced property and casualty insurance rates in rural fire protection districts and areas.

• Prohibits insurance agents and companies from issuing fire insurance policies at special or reduced rates unless the insured has paid current dues or subscription payments to the applicable rural fire protection district or department.

• Increases administrative penalties for violations from $25 for the first offense and $50 for subsequent offenses to $100 for the first violation and $200 for any subsequent violation.

• Requires insurers to obtain evidence of paid dues (receipt, canceled check, or other proof) before writing or renewing fire insurance policies at reduced rates for properties in rural fire districts.

• Effective date: November 1, 2014.
