OK HB3012

Amends 74 O.S. 2011, Section 150.23 to allow correctional officers, probation and parole officers, and internal affairs agents of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections to retain their badges upon retirement for length of service.

Extends existing badge and sidearm retention rights to Department of Corrections personnel, previously limited to officers from agencies such as OSBI, Wildlife Conservation, State Fire Marshal's Office, and district attorney offices.

Allows officers retiring due to disability to receive badges with written approval from the applicable Department director.

Permits Department directors to award badges of deceased officers to their spouse or next of kin.

Effective date: November 1, 2014.
