HB 3205 Summary

• Amends 59 O.S. 2011, Section 1873 to re-create the Oklahoma Board of Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors and extend its sunset date from July 1, 2014 to July 1, 2020

• Board consists of seven members: six certified or licensed alcohol and drug counselors (five with master's degrees or higher, one with bachelor's degree) and one public member with no financial interest in alcohol and drug counseling services

• Governor appoints board members with Senate advice and consent; four members nominated by Oklahoma Drug and Alcohol Professional Counselors Association, one by Oklahoma Substance Abuse Services Alliance, one by Oklahoma Citizen Advocates for Recovery and Treatment Association, and one public member

• Initial member terms staggered at three, four, and five years; thereafter all members serve five-year terms with a maximum of two consecutive terms

• Board members may be removed for inability to perform duties, misuse of office for personal gain, violation of alcohol and drug counseling laws or rules, or felony conviction
