HB 3381 Summary

• Amends the Judicial Nominating Commission membership per Article VII-B, Section 3 of the Oklahoma Constitution

• Transitions commission members from election by the Oklahoma Bar Association to appointment by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and President Pro Tempore of the Senate

• Requires appointees to be members of the Oklahoma Bar Association and practitioners before Oklahoma courts, with representation from all six congressional districts (Speaker appoints from Districts 1, 3, 5; Senate President Pro Tempore appoints from Districts 2, 4, 6)

• Maintains existing terms of office as provided in the Oklahoma Constitution

• Becomes effective November 1, 2014
