HB 3455 Summary

• Creates the Oklahoma Urban Agriculture Initiative Task Force, effective until December 31, 2014, to recommend policies addressing hunger and food security through sustainable local food systems in low-income communities.

• Task Force composition includes three members: one appointed by the Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, one by the President Pro Tempore of the State Senate, and the State Secretary of the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry.

• Members must be appointed by September 1, 2014, elect a chair from among their membership, maintain a quorum of majority members, and meet as often as necessary to conduct business.

• Task Force members receive no compensation and are ineligible for reimbursement under the State Travel Reimbursement Act; staff support provided by the Oklahoma House and State Senate.

• Task Force must submit a written report of findings and recommendations to the Governor, President Pro Tempore, and House Speaker by December 31, 2014; becomes effective July 1, 2014, with emergency declaration.
