SB1027 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. 2011, Section 1125 to define "park" as including state parks within the zone of safety provision for sex offenders.

• Prohibits sex offenders required to register under the Sex Offenders Registration Act, or those convicted of similar offenses against children under 13, from entering state parks or loitering within 500 feet of state park boundaries.

• Amends 74 O.S. 2011, Section 2217 to add violation of state park entry prohibitions as a misdemeanor offense, with fines between $50-$500 and/or up to 30 days in county jail.

• Maintains existing exemptions for registered sex offenders who are custodial parents or legal guardians enrolling or retrieving children from schools and child care facilities during authorized times.

• Effective date: November 1, 2013.
