Senate Bill 1068 Summary

• Requires all general contractors (primary, sub, and independent contractors) to be licensed, bonded, insured, experienced, qualified, and examined by the state before performing commercial construction work beginning July 1, 2014.

• Defines "commercial construction project" broadly to include public buildings, multi-unit residential buildings (4+ units), offices, retail centers, industrial buildings, churches, recreational facilities, and other public-use structures, with specific exemptions for residential home builders working on single homes, duplexes, and small residential projects.
