SB 1195 Summary

• Requires anemometer towers 50 feet or higher located outside municipal boundaries to be marked, painted, flagged, or otherwise made recognizable during daylight hours for aviation safety

• Mandates specific marking requirements: seven alternating bands of aviation orange and white on the tower, two marker balls on each guy wire, and seven-foot safety sleeves at anchor points

• Towers erected before the effective date must be marked within one year; towers erected after the effective date must be marked upon erection

• Directs the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission to establish and maintain a database of all anemometer tower locations by November 1, 2015

• Tower owners must provide the Commission with location, height, and ownership information within 60 days for existing towers or at least 10 days before erection for new towers; violations are misdemeanors punishable by fines of $100 per day initially, escalating to $1,000-$5,000 per day for subsequent violations
