SB 1257 Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. 2011, Section 1135.2 to expand eligibility for disabled veterans license plates to include surviving spouses receiving Dependency and Indemnity Compensation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Allows qualifying surviving spouses to apply for one disabled veterans license plate for a vehicle with a rated carrying capacity of one ton or less.

• Maintains existing eligibility requirements for disabled veterans and adds the new surviving spouse category alongside existing surviving spouse provisions.

• Fee for the special license plate remains additional to other registration fees, not to exceed five dollars total cost.

• Effective date: November 1, 2014.
