SB 1336 Summary

• Authorizes the Environmental Quality Board to promulgate rules regarding permit requirements for the commencement of construction and operation of landfill disposal sites, with rules not applying to sites permitted prior to the effective date.

• Allows the Department of Environmental Quality to issue research and development permits for sites using new technology that are effective for specified periods of time.

• Permits the Department to approve alternative vegetation plans for commercial solid waste landfills over 50 feet in height accepting more than 200 tons per day, as long as the plans accomplish similar erosion, dust control, and aesthetic objectives.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2014.
