SB 1373 Summary

• Amends 43 O.S. 2011, Section 107.1 regarding divorce proceedings when minor children are involved

• Changes court requirement from "may require" to "shall require" parties to attend and complete an educational program within the 90-day waiting period before a final divorce decree can be issued

• Does not apply to divorces based on specific grounds including abandonment, extreme cruelty, habitual drunkenness, imprisonment, insanity, child abuse convictions, or child deprivation findings

• Allows early divorce decree before the 90-day period if parties voluntarily participate in marital or family counseling and the court finds reconciliation is unlikely

• Effective November 1, 2014
