SB1440 Summary

• Imposes a moratorium on new wind energy facility development, construction, or installation from the effective date until January 1, 2017 in areas east of Interstate 35 with wind power rated below "Fair" on the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory map (issued November 25, 2008).

• Exempts wind energy facilities that had commenced construction as of January 1, 2014 from the moratorium restrictions.

• Creates a new section of law to be codified as Section 160.20 of Title 17 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

• Declares an emergency to allow the act to take effect immediately upon passage and approval.
