Enrolled Senate Bill 1448 Summary

• Amends 63 O.S. 2011, Section 1-323 to designate death certificates as publicly available records 75 years after death and birth certificates as publicly available records 125 years after birth.

• Permits the Attorney General or district attorneys to obtain certified copies of birth and death certificates without cost and without a court order during criminal investigations.

• Authorizes the State Commissioner of Health to disclose vital statistics data for public health surveillance and research purposes.

• Requires the State Department of Health to transmit quarterly death records to the Department of Public Safety for driver license cancellation and monthly motor vehicle collision death reports for statistical analysis.

• Effective date: November 1, 2014.
