SB 1464 Summary

• Amends the Oklahoma Teacher and Leader Effectiveness (TLE) Evaluation System to establish that teacher ratings measured through TLE are the primary basis for determining retention or reassignment during reduction-in-force (RIF) plans.

• Provides that when career teachers and probationary teachers have equal TLE ratings, career teachers as defined in the Teacher Due Process Act of 1990 receive priority for retention or reassignment over probationary teachers.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2014, with an emergency clause allowing it to take effect upon passage and approval.
