SB 1481 Summary

• Provides $500 annualized salary increase effective July 1, 2014 for all full-time state employees employed on June 30, 2014, including temporary and limited-term employees.

• Applies to employees of county health departments, conservation districts, and the George Nigh Rehabilitation Institute.

• Excludes elected officials, cabinet secretaries, agency directors, judges, district attorneys, higher education institution employees (except George Nigh Rehabilitation Institute), and employees in specified statutory salary schedules.

• Employees on leave without pay status receive the increase upon return to work; employees who leave before July 1, 2014 and are reinstated in July 2014 without a break in service receive the increase immediately upon reinstatement.

• Prohibits appropriated funds from being used to increase compensation for private contractors providing personnel services, though exceptions exist for sole source or other contract types.
