SB 1492 Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. 2011, Section 6-194 to require school districts to establish professional development programs for certified teachers, administrators, and certain support personnel

• Mandates that school counselors receive at least one-third of required annual professional development hours through programs designed specifically for counselors

• Requires related services personnel (as identified in special education policies) be provided opportunities to participate in training applicable to their field to maintain professional licensure

• Effective July 1, 2014, with emergency clause making the act effective upon passage and approval
