SB 1517 Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. 2011, Section 11-309 regarding driving on roadways divided into lanes for traffic

• Adds requirement that on roadways with four or more lanes, vehicles shall not impede normal traffic flow by driving in the left lane, except when traffic conditions require it

• Designates the left lane as a passing lane only on multi-lane roadways under normal traffic conditions

• Requires official signs to be erected on the interstate highway system stating that the left lane is for passing only

• Effective July 1, 2014, with emergency declaration for immediate implementation
